What we collect

ORION Maps collects only what is needed to provide navigation, radar, and weather features:

• Precise and coarse location — used to calculate routes, select the correct local NEXRAD radar station, and center the map on your position. Sent to our servers per-request to compute a route or fetch relevant radar; not stored with any identity attached to it.
• Destination search text — resolved entirely on your device using Android's built-in Geocoder. This never reaches ORION Maps' own servers.
• Subscription/purchase status — if you subscribe, Apple's App Store handles all payment and billing directly. ORION Maps never sees or stores your payment details; we only receive confirmation from Apple that an active subscription exists.

What we do not do

ORION Maps does not have user accounts, does not use analytics or crash-reporting SDKs, does not track you across other apps or sites, and does not sell or share your data with advertisers. There is currently no way to create an account, so there is nothing tied to a personal identity stored on our servers.

Location and background use

ORION Maps only uses your location while the app is in use. It does not request or use background location access.

Map and radar data sources

• Map data — OpenStreetMap contributors, via Protomaps, used under the Open Database License (ODbL)
• Radar data — NOAA / National Weather Service NEXRAD (WSR-88D) Level II and Level III products, U.S. government public data
• Routing — calculated from OpenStreetMap road data using our own routing service; your origin and destination are sent to compute a route and are not retained with any identity attached

Safety disclaimer

ORION Maps is a navigation and weather-radar tool, not an emergency notification system. The National Weather Service is the official authority for life-safety weather warnings. Always follow NWS guidance and local emergency management instructions, and never operate the app in a way that distracts from safe driving.

Data retention

Because ORION Maps has no account system, there is no persistent personal data tied to you to retain or delete. Location data sent with each request is used only to serve that request.
